You really have to try recycled paint to understand how good the coverage is. And it is low in VOCs too. Good Stuff!

The Paint Exchange

Recycling Your Paint

Step One:

Confirm that any paint is in fact a latex paint (check with your local municipality regarding the proper disposal of oil or “alkyd” paints)

Step Two:

Dust off the top or lid of your container in order to minimize contamination once the top is removed. Open each container and examine it for:

- Mold or mildew growth
- A foul odor (putrification)
- Solidification or livering of paint (if the paint is solid or overly thick it cannot be recycled)
- Skinning-a thin layer or skin of paint on the surface
- Excessive corrosion of the container
- Curdling (semi solid lumps of paint) or evidence of being frozen

Step Three:

Paint without any of the above limitations may be recycled; for non-recyclable paint, see our section “How to Dispose” of unusable paint

Step Four:

If you are not sure if your paint is recyclable, bring it in and we can check it for you

Step Five:

Please note that we are only able to accept paint in its original container with a readable label which indicates product type, intended application and gloss level.
