Disposing of Paint
Most municipal waste facilities do not accept liquid latex paint for disposal. We therefore recommend disposing of unusable paint in one of the following ways:
- Remove the container’s top or lid, let the paint dry out in its original container and then dispose of the container according to local recycling regulations (could take several weeks or months);
- Pour the paint out onto newspaper in a thin layer, let the paint dry and dispose of the newspaper with household trash (usually a day or two); or
- Mix the paint with cat litter, saw dust or commercial paint hardeners in a plastic bag (double lined is recommended) and dispose of it with household trash – recycling the container of course!
